House of Hilkiah Foundation Conducts Tree Planting Campaign


A Nigeria-based URI Cooperation Circle (CC), House of Hilkiah Foundation, in partnership with Ambassadors of Dialogue, Climate and Reintegration (DCR Ambassadors),Bloom Nature Foundation has flagged off  a 6 months Tree Planting Campaign in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. The Tree Planting Campaign, which started on 5th June, 2019, is expected to end in November 2019. The goal of the Campaign is to plant 5,000 trees to improve air quality and mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change on communities in Benue State, North Central Nigeria,

The campaign began with a march through the streets of Makurdi, the Benue State Capital followed by a Climatic Action talk. The Executive Director of Ambassadors of Dialogue, Climate and Reintegration (DCR Ambassadors), Richard Iyamkumie gave presentation on Air pollution which was the theme of the 2019 World environmental day. The Executive Director of House of Hilkiah Foundation Miss Dorothy Akende planted the first tree to encourage gender in climate. Children also joined the campaign to support tree planting and create awareness among their pairs for a carbon free society.
