URI CCs, AYICRIP and ICLDN Launch Miss Human Trafficking Beauty Pageant
As part of activities commemorating the International Youth Day, African Youths Initiative on Crime Prevention, AYICRIP in partnership with International Centre for Leadership Development in Nigeria and Community Agenda for Peace have launched Miss Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Beauty Pageant 2019 in her bid to address the menace of Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration among young girls in Nigeria.Having considered the huge challenges our girls go through in the hands of trafficking merchants especially in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa leading to slavery, sexual exploitation and even death in some instances, the project aims at educating and empowering young girls with skills that will enable them avoid falling victims of human trafficking and irregular migration. The project which is also aimed at addressing SDG 5, Target 2, will raise ambassadors who will champion the global fight against human trafficking and irregular migration from the Nigerian perspective in a very competitive manner with winners going home with beautiful deals and other prizes.According to Mr. Chris Ibe, Executive Director, African Youths Initiative on Crime Prevention, AYICRIP "
"We cannot continue to pretend of not knowing what our girls are going through in many foreign countries and we wish to use this medium to encourage our girls from ages 18 to 26 to take this opportunity and apply to be part of this project. We are targeting girls of 18 to 26 years who represent the most vulnerable demography for trafficking merchants especially from highly institutions. We are also calling on corporate organizations and well meaning individuals to partner with us in this great project that aims at restoring the value of man"
